Hello. What's the craic. I'm at work now. Writing this post. As the title name, this post is about Red Dead Redemption 2. It's not just about RDR2. It's about game. This post is kinda different for what I normally write which are about my past or my feelings or what I want in the future. This post is just about gaming. So let's start typing and you guys start reading.
Past few weeks ago, I played God of War 2018. I achieved 100% achievements on it and the game is amazing. I didn't say was as it still is in my deep suppressed thoughts. It is an amazing game. The combat, the orchestral music, the story. Don't get me started on the story. It's an amazing experience! After I finished God of War, I felt some emptiness of trying to find the next game that I wanted to play. Some people would call it the "Post Witcher 3 Depression" syndrome. It's where gamers are unable to find a game that is up to par with the last game he played. It's a mess though. Scrolling through my Steam store page every day.
One day, one fine normal day at work, I was scrolling my Steam store page and I saw Red Dead Redemption 2 was on sale that day. Previously, I've played RDR2 before this and it was on Xbox One, that time I was heavily believed that RDR2 would never come to PC as RDR1 isn't on PC. I bought Xbox One just to play Halo (story for another time), Gear of War (again, story for another time) and Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2. So it was years back when I played both of RDR and I decided, hey why the hell not. It's just a few quids. Bought it at work, when work hour's done. Straight gone home and install the shit out of RDR2.
Lo and behold the game is still good. It is good. RDR2 cures my Post Witcher 3 syndrome. Every day for the past 2 weeks now, I would go home and play the hell out of it. Sometimes my wife would ask me, what am I doing in the game. Cause she always see me walk around, greeting people, clean my guns, camping, carrying haystacks, chopping some wood, enjoying the company around the camp fire. RDR2 is not just a game. It's an immersion. All the small details, the environment. Again, the immersion. The story... oohh... the story. I don't want to spoil anything about the story if you haven't played them and if you haven't play the game yet, what are you doing?
Red dead is slow pacing game. It's not like GTA where action is key. Rockstar made this game for us to slow down and enjoy the small bits. It works. The setting of this game is huge. From barren empty desert to snowy mountains to foresty area to a more developed city. You walk slowly in the places and take the massive details that they put up for you just to immerse yourself in the game. The slow gameplay would slowly build up to a more intense shootout that heavily relate to the story and it shows how this game knows how to slow down and when to pick up the intensity.
All I can say is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will always be in my heart. Next to The Witcher 3.
