Hello. How are ya? It's the time for updating my blog as I'm waiting for work to be in process. As I'm updating this, my keyboard makes sound and my boss would think that I'm doing my job or anything. Which means good stuff. So, last weekend. What happened last weekend? It was my wife's birthday and you know me, trying to be the best husband. I brought her to London. We arrived in London somewhere around 10pm and we bought KFC (the only Halal KFC near Ireland is in London or Scotland) for dinner and we went straight to our hotel. We stayed somewhere in the middle of Hackney (which is a dangerous place to stay which now I know). The hotel is convenient enough and close to Overground Hackney Central station which was pretty neat but the area was not worth it. That area is pretty shady and pretty dangerous. I won't recommend staying there though.
The 2nd day (9th September 2023), both of us woke up around 9am (rarely I woke up at 9 on offdays) to get early head start of the day. Not that early though, still tired from all the travelling. We bought oyster cards for both of us and we boarded the overground to Camden Town, the place for shopping and enjoying the not so rich area of London. We went to Caffe' Nero because mainly I missed Caffe' Nero since that is the drink that my sister bought for me when we came to London in 2013. Secondly, I wanted my wife to try other coffee rather than Starbucks or Costa Coffee. Also it was her birthday, so I wanted to buy my wife a birthday cake. It was a pleasant cafe. It was relaxing, not busy. Then, we went towards the main stuff in Camden Town which is the shops. There are so many shops in Camden Town. Gift shops, chocolate shops, food stalls, boba drink stalls, arts and crafts shops, I can't list them all. You can just go there and visit this place. It's different from Limerick. Just like always, we went to buy comic books. I bought the Joker & Wolverine : Patch comic book. I haven't read the Joker yet. I read the Wolverine one. Then, we went to Oxford streets via bus. We walked around and we had coffee at this Lavazza coffee shop near Soho. It was huge! Also it was very beautiful. We had coffee on the go as it was a very hot day. We walked around and we found some stalls that sells all these handcrafted items. Continue walking until we found another comic book shop, Gosh! Comics. They sell pretty good comic books. I bought the Weapon X comic book from that shop as it's been sold out on Amazon.
By 3pm, we took a train to Watford Junction to go to Warner Bros. Studio to see the Harry Potter set. It's an hour train ride from Euston to Watford Junction. We were very tired from the walking so it was a nice rest in the train. Relaxed our feet for a while and took a breather. Once we arrived, we took the Harry Potter tour bus to the studio. It was very exciting. I could see the smile on my wife's face as we rode the bus. She's very tired but she was so excited to see the studio. Once we arrived, I was in awe and shocked by the place. It was so huge! We took a lot of pictures although we're still outside of the studio but they had all these huge chess set pieces from the first Harry Potter movie and these huge wand statues with the characters who owned them engraved in the plaque. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, we bought the tickets back in June and time available on 9th September was only on 6.00pm so yeah that's why we're had to walk around London first before going to the Warner Bros. Studio. Continue, had coffee at Starbucks in the studio and the Starbucks was very interesting. They had these Harry Potter theme Starbucks so it was kind of cool. We bought a few items (merch) in the gifts shop and go into the tour itself around 5.30pm. I don't want to explain much about the tour, just go if you have the money. That's all.
We finished the tour around 9pm and went to our hotel the same way we got to the studio. A bus from the studio to Watford Junction station. Then, we boarded train to Highbury & Islington station. From there, we took a cab to our hotel. It was a tiring day but still a fun and fulfilling day. I'm so happy that throughout the whole day, my wife was smiling the whole time. She took a lot... I mean A LOT of pictures. Nightime, we had dinner delivered by JustEat. It was Indian based food. The next day, we had lunch and just went back to Stansted to board the flight to Shannon.
I love every bits of the trip. I fulfilled one of my promise which was to bring my wife to London. I enjoyed every seconds of it although the 2nd day was tiring as hell but I love every bits of it. We came to Limerick since January '23. We haven't gone anywhere except the city centre and work. We had not enough money to travel before and now we've saved up few bits for travelling. I can't wait to travel again with my wife. Just the two of us. Out there, exploring the world. Next trip, Italy.
