Happy Eid al-Fitr from both of us! Eid al-Fitr is a celebration for Muslims to embrace the end of Fasting Month which is Ramadhan and celebrate them with Forgiveness and humility. As you know, I'm a Malaysian born and proud. So all I can tell you about Eid is based on my Malaysian's point of view. So if you're from somewhere else and you find this to be not what you'll be doing, don't be offended, maybe it's just different on how we're celebrating Eid.
I'm happy to celebrate Eid. Extra happy this year because this year is the first time that I'm celebrating Eid as a husband. I'm grateful and consider myself lucky because my wife, she cooks all the best meals. The traditional chicken rendang, briyani rice, and today she's cooking Lontong(I don't know the English word for Lontong, just look it up). I'm so lucky. She tried all these kind of dishes just to make us have the feeling of Eid.
Both of us are missing Malaysia. Eid in Malaysia, man. It's one hell of a celebration. Open houses every where! Family, friends, colleagues and even the furthest relatives down the family tree. Missing our family, missing the environment. Usually in Malaysia, during the eve of Eid, kids would go around playing with fireworks. It's kinda sad when it's just the two of us here. Yeah we went to an open house near Shannon but it's different than open house in Malaysia where it's just family. We missed that feeling. Well, I missed that feeling.
Had a chat with my wife a couple days back, I'm gonna save up money to buy flight tickets to go back to Malaysia next year for Eid celebration. That is my aim now. I like seeing my wife with her family and I hate to see her far away from her family in the time of a festival or celebration. Selamat Hari Raya (Happy Eid) everyone!
